Silveira is one of the coastal parishes of Torres Vedras. It has a beach, a school, local shops and people here all year — the difference between a holiday spot and a place where you actually live.
Santa Cruz is here
Santa Cruz beach belongs to the parish of Silveira. Blue Flag, the Penedo do Guincho rock rising from the sand, waves all year and a beach wide enough to take August without feeling crowded.
It does not close in September
Unlike many seaside spots, Silveira has a life of its own out of season: school, grocers, cafés, clubs, football on Sundays. People who buy here, live here.

Santa Cruz and Praia Formosa produce waves almost all year, with surf schools open from March to October. The Penedo do Guincho is the postcard of this coast.

Access to the A8 without driving through Torres Vedras. If you go into the capital two or three days a week, the maths works — and it works well.

Santa Cruz is Silveira's bathing area and one of the best known beaches on the West Coast — Blue Flag year after year, a wide beach and full facilities, from lifeguards to terraces.
The Penedo do Guincho, the rock formation rising out of the sand, is the symbol of the beach and of everyone who grew up here. A boardwalk runs from it along the ocean for more than two kilometres.
Our homes in Caixeiros are a five-minute drive away. For people who live here, Santa Cruz is not a holiday beach — it is the Saturday morning beach, coffee still in hand.
